Auspicious Treasure Vase Gau Box Amulet Pendant: Eight Auspicious Symbols, Pure Brass, Tibetan Nepali Design

This Gau Box, made from pure brass, features the auspicious design of a treasure vase. The vase is adorned with a combination of eight auspicious symbols in low relief. The cover can be attached with a robe or chain for wearing as a pendant.

Gau, also known as Gawu or Ghau, is the Tibetan term for an amulet box that holds precious objects such as small sculptures or relics. An amulet box filled with religious contents protects the wearer and serves as a portable shrine.

The eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism include the endless knot, banner of victory, all-powerful wheel, precious parasol, golden fishes, vase of treasure, exquisite lotus, and white conch. Originating from ancient Indian ceremonies like the investiture or coronation of a king, these symbols in Buddhism represent the offerings made by gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediately after his enlightenment.
