Oxidized Copper Protector Offering Cup with Eight Auspicious Symbols in Relief – Serkyem for Golden Drink Offering

Exquisitely carved from oxidized copper, this protector offering cup features the eight auspicious symbols in relief on both the cup and the accompanying plate. The rim of each piece is adorned with intricate floral and jewel patterns.

A Serkyem, or Dharmapala offering, includes a chalice and a basin for ritual offerings to Protector deities. Typically filled with tea, wine, or tsok substances, the Serkyem represents ongoing protection and the propagation of dharma teachings. In Tibetan, 'ser' means gold, and 'kyem' means drink.

The eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism—endless knot, victory banner, wheel of dharma, parasol, golden fish, treasure vase, lotus, and conch—symbolize the offerings made to Shakyamuni Buddha after his enlightenment.
